Unlawful wounding at Port Douglas, QLD

Mossman detectives have charged two men following investigations into the alleged unlawful wounding of a man at Port Douglas last night, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged the pair had been socialising with a 49-year-old man in Murphy Street around 11.20pm when an altercation occurred.

The argument escalated and it will be alleged the 49-year-old was stabbed with a broken bottle.

He sustained a stab wound to the chest, severe bruising and facial injuries and was taken to Mossman Hospital before being airlifted to Cairns Base Hospital.

A 32-year-old Mareeba man and a 32-year-old Newell man have both been charged with wounding and assault occasioning bodily harm.

Both men are scheduled to appear in Mossman Magistrates Court on July 11.
