Unlawful wounding charge at Geebung, QLD

A man who attempted to stop the driver of a car involved in a crash at Geebung last night was allegedly stabbed several times with a pair of garden secateurs, Queensland Police say.

Preliminary information suggests that shortly after 7pm the drivers of two cars were involved in an altercation as they were both travelling through Geebung – this included the vehicles coming into contact with each other at one point.

Around 7.15pm both vehicles turned into Newman Road with one of the cars crashing into a light pole.

The driver exited this vehicle and started walking away. The second vehicle drove off.

A 57-year-old Zillmere man hearing the crash attended the scene and spotted the driver walking away.

Police will allege the Zillmere man approached the driver and after a brief conversation a scuffle occurred during which time he was stabbed several times, sustaining lacerations to his neck, hip and stomach.

Two other members of the public came to his aid and all three men restrained the man until police arrived.

The Zillmere man was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 20-year-old Clontarf man was arrested and charged with one count of unlawful wounding. He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 28.

Police investigations are continuing and police have spoken to the driver of the other vehicle.
