Unlawful wounding charge in Aitkenvale, QLD

Townsville police investigating a disturbance at an Aitkenvale house last night in which a man was allegedly stabbed have charged a woman with unlawful wounding, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged at around 10.45pm the man and woman were at a Nathan Street residence when a verbal argument escalated resulting in the man being stabbed in the face and leg.

The woman fled and police were called.

Officers located the woman at a nearby residence a short time later.

The Aitkenvale man was transported to Townsville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 47-year-old Doomdagee woman was also charged with contravention of a domestic violence order. She was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court this morning.
