Unlawful wounding in Palm Island, QLD

A man has been charged after an alleged assault in Palm Island this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

Just after 12:30pm emergency services were called to an address on Cooktown Street following reports a woman had been assaulted.

On attending police located a 25-year-old woman with apparent stab wounds to her arm and chest.

She was transported to Palm Island Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

While officers were in attendance a man, who was known to the woman, returned to the property and surrendered to police.

A 19-year-old Palm Island man has been charged with one count of wounding.

He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on November 7.
