Unlawful wounding of a police officer in Deception Bay, QLD

Detectives are investigating following the unlawful wounding of an off-duty police officer in Deception Bay last night, Queensland Police say.

At around 10:35pm a male officer was speaking to a man who had been trespassing on a property at Lillian Place when the man attempted to flee.

As the officer attempted to detain the man he was assaulted, receiving stab wounds to chest.

The man then fled the scene in a silver Hyundai hatchback which had two other men inside the vehicle.

The 27-year-old officer was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The three men are described as aged in their late teens or early twenties with the man who assaulted the officer described as Caucasian in appearance.

Investigations are continuing.
