UNSC Votes on 2025 Peacebuilding Architecture Review

At 10 a.m., the Security Council and the General Assembly will simultaneously vote on substantively identical resolutions on the 2025 Peacebuilding Architecture Review. (See Press Release GA/12735 )

The adoption of twin resolutions on peacebuilding is an innovative practice that dates to 20 December 2005, when the Council and the Assembly adopted matching substantive and operative texts establishing the Peacebuilding Commission and the Peacebuilding Support Office, and requesting the Secretary-General to establish a Peacebuilding Fund.

This approach allows the two organs to commit to a common framework for supporting peacebuilding efforts across the UN's development, human rights and peace and security pillars.
