With ANZAC Day around the corner, Bayside Council will be launching an exhibition commemorating the often-unseen contributions of Bayside women during World War I and World War II.
Held at Mascot Library and George Hanna Memorial Museum, the Unseen & Unsung exhibition will bring community members together in a space to learn about and reflect on the roles played by women that were crucial to the war effort. As a reminder that the war effort was not only fought on the battlefield, but also in homes and communities, Unseen & Unsung weaves a tale of the resilience and dedication of women.
This exhibition tells the stories of local women who were nurses, knitters, cooks, coders, telegraphists, and more, whose contributions, while often overlooked, were crucial to the war efforts. Through their names, we shed light to the many unseen and unsung women whose dedication and resilience played an integral role in shaping the outcome of the war.
The formal launch of the exhibition will take place on Saturday 11 April from 2 - 4pm. It will continue to be publicly available from April to September 2026.
Registration is not required.
