Open Day gives school leavers, career changers and families the chance to explore university close to home
The University of Wollongong (UOW) will open the doors of its Liverpool Civic Place campus to the South Western Sydney community for Open Day on Saturday 25 July - the first Open Day held at the new campus.
Open Day is for anyone considering university: high school students exploring their options, and people looking to change careers, upskill or return to study. Prospective students and their families can explore their study options, meet staff and current students, and see for themselves what it is like to study close to home at UOW Liverpool.
Since opening in 2017 with an initial intake of just over 240 students, UOW Liverpool has grown to more than 1,600 students. Around 85 per cent come from South Western and Western Sydney, and the new Civic Place campus provides the capacity to support continued growth and expand access to higher education in one of Australia's fastest-growing regions.
UOW Vice-Chancellor and President Professor G.Q. Max Lu AO said Open Day was a chance for prospective students to experience university life and to see how the Liverpool campus is creating opportunities in South Western Sydney.
"Most of our Liverpool students come from the local community, and many are the first in their family to attend university," Professor Lu said.
"Our Liverpool campus was established to make higher education more accessible for people in the fastest-growing region in Australia. Open Day is an invitation to the whole community to see what a UOW degree can offer, right here in South Western Sydney."
For the day, the campus will be arranged across four zones.
What's on offer
- An Academic Expo with booths showcasing UOW Liverpool's full range of degrees and services,
- Hands-on experiences in the Biomechanics Lab,
- A Student Hub showcasing support services, clubs and societies and student life,
- Information sessions and one-on-one conversations with staff and current students,
- A Community Festival on the outdoor forecourt with live music, performances, free food and coffee, interactive activities and a jumping castle, connecting with UOW Liverpool's local community.
