Upcoming Disruptions On Eastern Freeway 28 October

The Eastern Freeway will be closed in both directions between Doncaster Road and Bulleen Road from 10 pm Friday 7 November to 5 am Monday 10 November.

As part of the North East Link program, the Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne's first dedicated busway.

Alternative travel options

Delays of up to 90 minutes are expected. We encourage you to avoid the area if you can and plan ahead.

Detour routes are shown on the map at Victoria's Big Build website, including:

  • Citybound via Doncaster Road and Burke Road
  • Ringwood-bound via Thompsons Road, Manningham Road, Williamsons Road and Tram Road.

About the works

The Estelle Street bridge is being upgraded and widened to improve walking and cycling connections to the Koonung Creek Reserve.

During the freeway closure, the Victorian Government will also carry out works at the Bulleen Road bridge and install new noise walls on the freeway.
