Works are underway to resurface the Monash and Princes freeways. Major delays are expected throughout Summer with the works to be completed during Winter 2022.

Freeway daytime lane closures – major delays
There will be lanes closed and speed reductions on the Monash Freeway between Warrigal Road and EastLink until April.
There will be changed traffic conditions with the middle lane closed at times. Please plan ahead and seek an alternate route.
Overnight freeway closures
Monash Freeway
The Monash Freeway will be closed in the outbound direction between Warrigal Road and Springvale Road:
- Sunday 8 May from 10:30pm to 6am
- Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 May from 9:30pm to 6am
Detour via Warrigal Road, Princes Highway and Wellington Road.
The Monash Freeway will be closed in the outbound direction between Wellington Road and Stud Road:
- Wednesday 11 May from 9:30pm to 5:30am
- Thursday 12 May from 10pm to 5:30am
Detour via Wellington Road and Stud Road.
Princes Freeway
The Princes Freeway will be closed in the outbound direction between Beaconsfield Interchange and Koo Wee Rup Road Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 May from 9pm to 5:30am
Detour via Princes Highway.
The Princes Freeway will be closed between Princes Highway and Beaconsfield Interchange in both directions Thursday 12 May:
- In the inbound direction from 8pm to 5am
- In the outbound direction from 9pm to 6am
Detour via Princes Highway.
The Princes Freeway will be closed between Koo Wee Rup Road and Cardinia Road in the inbound direction on Thursday 12 May between 8pm and 5am.
Detour via Princes Highway.
Jacksons Road outbound entry ramp
Important changes to Jacksons Road outbound entry ramp
Jacksons Road outbound entry ramp will reopen 5am, Sunday 15 May.
When it opens it will connect only to EastLink.
To join the Monash Freeway outbound from Mulgrave, continue to detour via Wellington Road and Stud Road.
From mid-May, motorists travelling outbound on Monash Freeway will need to veer left approximately 400 metres earlier, before the Jacksons Road exit ramp in order to join Eastlink.
Daytime ramp closures
- Wellington Road outbound entry ramp will be closed until 5am Friday 20 May. Detour via Stud Road.
- Jacksons Road outbound entry ramp will reopen to Eastlink only at 7am Sunday 15 May. Detour via Wellington Road and Stud Road.
- Jacksons Road outbound exit ramp will be closed from 8pm, Wednesday 11 May to 5am, Saturday 14 May . Detour via Stud Road.
Overnight ramp closures
- Beaconsfield Interchange outbound exit ramp Monday 9 May from 8pm to 5am. Detour via Cardinia Road.
Beaconsfield Interchange inbound entry ramp will be closed Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 May from 8pm to 4:30am each night. Detour via Princes Highway
- Springvale Road outbound entry ramp will be closed 8pm to 5am Wednesday 11 May and 8pm to 5am Thursday 12 May. Detour via Ferntree Gully Road
- Warrigal Road inbound exit ramp is closed Sunday 8 May from 8pm to 5am. Detour via Huntingdale Road.
Eastlink overnight ramp closures
- The Frankston and Ringwood entry ramps are closed Sunday 8, Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 May from 9pm to 5am.
Daytime road closure
- Forster Road under the Monash Freeway will be closed until 5am, 9 May. Detour via Monash Freeway. At night detour via Stephensons Road or Blackburn Road.
These works are heavily weather dependent and any changes to dates will be communicated via on road signage and on Victoria's Big Build.
