Update and Vision: Pedestrian incidentin Brisbane City

Police have laid further charges against an alleged drink driver who struck three pedestrians with his car in Brisbane City early this morning.

It is alleged at 12.45am a vehicle travelling along Adelaide Street proceeded through a red light and collided with the trio who were crossing towards King George Square near the intersection of Albert Street.

The three 18-year-old pedestrians, two women and one man were taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver was detained by police and after returning a positive roadside test. He was then transported to Roma Street where further testing returned a BAC of more than four times the legal limit, at 0.234%.

A 28-year-old Redbank Plains was initially charged with drink driving and driving whilst disqualified. Further investigations have led to the man being charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.

He is due appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on April 26.
