UPDATE - Closure of ACT Government sportsgrounds to continue into weekend due to wet weather

All ACT Government sportsgrounds will be closed for training and match play from today, 24 June until at least Sunday 27 June 2021 inclusive due to the wet weather.

Closures include turf sportsgrounds, excluding the Melrose and Nicholls synthetic fields and the Woden athletic track.

Rainfall has made the playing surfaces saturated today and they will not have enough time to dry out to allow for any weekend activities.

The decision has been taken in the interests of public safety and to minimise damage to the turf surfaces.

Peak sporting bodies are being contacted today by Sport and Recreation Facilities within ACT Government to advise of the extended closure.

Sportsgrounds will be reassessed on Monday morning 28 June 2021 to see if they can be reopened.
