Update – Fatal traffic crash in Ayr, QLD

A 30-year-old man has died from injuries sustained as a result of a traffic crash in Ayr earlier this month, Queensland Police say.

Around 3.30am on Sunday, February 5, police responded to reports of a single vehicle motorcycle crash at Queen Street.

Initial investigations suggest the rider of the motorcycle was travelling south on Queen Street when he lost control attempting to negotiate the roundabout at Queen and Little Drysdale Streets.

He was flown to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition but passed away earlier today.

Police are renewing their appeal for anyone with dash cam footage who may have witnessed the incident or a red Yamaha motorcycle driving in the area around that time to come forward.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations continue.
