Update on Mallacoota Airport

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority, Airservices Australia and the East Gippsland Shire Council remain committed to working together to re-introduce instrument flight procedures as soon as possible.

The initial date of 6 October relied on the procedures being published by 8 September. While work is well advanced, the 8 September deadline was not met.

For safety reasons, all changes to flight procedures and flight paths must be notified to industry 28-days prior. This allows navigation database providers to capture the changes as well as appropriate industry notification.

There is a clear plan in place to transition the airport to certification - this remains the case.

Pilots are reminded to review before flight the Aeronautical Information Publications (AIP) and NOTAM for the latest information regarding the status of the aerodrome and its instrument approach procedures.

Mallacoota Airport remains open and functional.
