Update on Pimpinio fatal collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding yesterday's fatal collision in Pimpinio.

The driver of the truck involved in yesterday's fatal collision in Pimpinio was released last night pending further enquiries.

The 36-year-old Murray Bridge man was driving a B-double truck along the Western Highway when the trailers dislodged about 2am.

A bus which was carrying 45 passengers collided into the trailers.

The driver of the bus, a 60-year-old Ferntree Gully man, died at the scene.

Two passengers were airlifted to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the remaining passengers were taken to a local hospital.

The female passenger of the truck, a 22-year-old woman was arrested yesterday, allegedly in possession of drugs.

The Murray Bridge woman has been charged with traffick a drug of dependence, possess a drug of dependence and use a drug of dependence.

She has been remanded in custody to appear at the Ararat Magistrates' Court today.

The Western Highway was re-opened this morning.

The investigation remains ongoing.
