Update: Serious traffic crash at West Woombye, QLD

A man has passed away in hospital from injuries sustained in a single vehicle crash at West Woombye on New Year's Eve.

Around 8.50pm police received reports a car had crashed into a tree on Blackall Range Road.

The driver and sole occupant, a 21-year-old West Woombye man, was freed from the vehicle by emergency services in a critical condition.

He was transported to Nambour Hospital before being flown to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital where he died this morning as a result of his injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
