Updated Armed robbery charges, Wilsonton

Police have charged a 39-year-old man following investigations into an incident where a man allegedly assaulted and robbed a licensed premises at Wilsonton this morning.

It is alleged shortly after 3.30am a man entered the Richmond business and became involved in a brief altercation with a security guard.

It is further alleged the man was armed with a piece of wood and threatened staff by demanding they handover money.

Late this afternoon Toowoomba detectives arrested and charged this man with one count of armed robbery, enter premises with intent, assault occasioning bodily harm and two counts of common assault.

He is due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates court tomorrow (June 6)
