Construction works to upgrade Coral Road and McNeill Street in Ararat are well underway as part of Ararat Rural City Council's ongoing Urban Gravel to Seal Program.
Road crews have carried out site preparations works and laid down gravel this week ahead of upcoming sealing works. The project delivers essential infrastructure improvements, including brand-new road pavement as well as fresh kerb and channel construction.
Both roads rank highly on Council's priority list due to their importance for local residential access and community use. Once complete, the upgraded sealed surface will significantly enhance road safety, eliminate dust issues, and extend the long-term lifespan of the infrastructure.
Under its 2026/27 Budget, Council has allocated $1 million for the sealing or alternative treatment of urban roads and laneways.
"Progressing our Urban Gravel to Seal Program on Coral Road and McNeill Street delivers clear, immediate benefits to our community. These upgrades are about enhancing local road safety and accessibility for our residents, said Ararat Rural City Council CEO, Phuong Au.
"Construction crews are pushing ahead this week to make the most of clear conditions and full completion of the project across both sites is expected within the next few weeks. Thank you to our residents and nearby businesses for their patience and cooperation while these works are carried out."
Demonstrating a strong commitment to local infrastructure, Council has allocated $15.79 million to its Capital Works Program under the 2026/27 Budget.
