Urgent Evacuation Issued as Fire Threatens Landsborough

In response to a rapidly advancing fire, Queensland Police have issued an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA). The immediate danger has prompted evacuations in Landsborough, specifically within the area of Steve Irwin Way, Hardwood Road, Forestry Road, and Dianella Road.

The ferocity of the fire poses a direct threat to homes in the area. As a result, residents are being urged to evacuate immediately, emphasizing the severity of the situation. While police and fire crews are actively alerting residents by door knocking, they strongly advise not waiting for an official knock before evacuating.

The fire's trajectory suggests that the entire township of Landsborough might be at risk. Accordingly, police are urging not only those in the delineated zones but also those in surrounding areas to implement their fire plans and evacuate safely.

To accommodate evacuees, Queensland Police have set up a refuge at the Landsborough School of Arts and Memorial Hall Association, located at 485 Old Landsborough Road in Landsborough.

The emergency declaration was officially made at 7.31 pm on October 28. Residents are reminded to stay informed and prioritize safety.
