US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin Meeting With Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong 11 June

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III met today with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Singapore on the margins of the International Institute for Strategic Studies' 19th Asia Security Summit, also known as the Shangri-La Dialogue.

During their meeting, the Secretary and Prime Minister reaffirmed the excellent and long-standing bilateral defense partnership between the United States and Singapore. The two leaders exchanged views on the regional security environment and the importance of crisis management, and discussed opportunities for continued cooperation. Secretary Austin reiterated the U.S. commitment to expanding joint training and bilateral force posture opportunities, while collaboratively addressing security challenges in the Indo-Pacific.

The Secretary and Prime Minister closed the meeting by reiterating their commitment to supporting the security, stability, and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific, and to building an even more capable defense relationship that is based on a shared foundation of common interests and values.
