U.S.-EU Counterterrorism Talks: Joint Statement

The text of the following press statement was released by the Government of the United States and by the European Union.

Counterterrorism officials from the United States and the European Union convened in Washington, D.C., on June 24 to review joint priorities and to advance US-EU counterterrorism cooperation, bilaterally and across the globe, including in the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia.

The United States and the European Union discussed their shared assessment of the threat landscape and tangible steps to advance their respective counter terrorism agenda.

The Department of State's acting Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism Monica Jacobsen led the U.S. interagency delegation. The EU Delegation was led by the European External Action Service (EEAS) Special Envoy for Counterterrorism Anna Strzaska, joined by representatives from the European Commission, EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator and Europol.
