U.S., PRC Discuss 2022 DoD Annual Report at Meeting

U.S. Department of Defense

U.S. defense officials held a hybrid in-person and virtual meeting with PRC defense officials to discuss the Department's recently released National Defense Strategy and the Department's annual report on "Military and Security Developments Involving the People's Republic of China," known as the China Military Power Report. This meeting builds on the discussion last year between U.S. and PRC officials on the Department of Defense's annual report on "Military and Security Developments Involving the People's Republic of China."

The two sides held a constructive discussion to build understanding and maintain open channels of communication between the Department of Defense and the People's Liberation Army per the 2014 Memorandum of Understanding on Notification of Major Military Activities Confidence Building Measure Mechanism.

The U.S. delegation included representatives from the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Staff. The PRC delegation included representatives of the PRC Defense Attaché Office and the Central Military Commission's Office for International Military Cooperation (OIMC).
