Ute carjacked in Fairfield

Police are appealing for public assistance after a utility was carjacked at Fairfield overnight, NSW Police say.

Police have been told the incident happened when a 23-year-old man was in his Toyota Hilux stopped at the intersection of Hedges and Loscoe streets, Fairfield, about 8.45pm (Tuesday 9 October 2018).

A man armed with a handgun approached the vehicle and threatened the driver, directing him to get out of the vehicle.

The driver complied and the utility was last seen turning right onto The Horsley Drive.

The driver was shaken but unharmed.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command are now investigating and have issued a description of a man they believe can assist with inquiries.

He is described as being aged around 25 to 30, with a thin build, 165cm-170cm tall. At the time the man was wearing a balaclava and was armed with a dark-coloured handgun.

The stolen vehicle is a 2016-model blue Toyota Hilux with NSW registration CO-37-WZ.

Investigators are now appealing for anyone with information – or who may have dash cam vision of the incident – to contact Fairfield Police or Crime Stoppers.
