On behalf of the Tasmanian Government I send my deepest condolences to the family and friends of John P Bennett AM who sadly passed away peacefully on Saturday.
The Ashgrove Farms and Ashgrove Cheese co-founder was a visionary who made a significant contribution to our community, particularly in the Meander Valley.
John was a farming legend, a leader and he will be dearly missed by the Tasmanian Dairy Industry, more broadly the Australian Dairy Industry and of course the Deloraine community.
I had the pleasure of knowing John personally and my heart goes out to John's wife of 58 years, Connie, and children Susan, Mary, Paul and Anne, and his grandchildren at this sad time. No doubt John's wonderful legacy will live on through them.
