Vandals target Bushland Beach park

Townsville City Council is appealing for information about recent vandalism at Bushland Beach's Peggy Banfield Park.

The park has been subject to vandalism on multiple occasions during the week, resulting in damaged toilets and bars being sawn off the playground.

Mayor Jenny Hill said it simply wasn't good enough.

"Like all of our parks, Peggy Banfield Park is meant to provide the community with a safe, fun place to enjoy the outdoors. It's unacceptable that a handful of vandals think it's OK to damage these facilities," Cr Hill said.

"Council will now need to fix the damage and antisocial behaviour like this is not OK. It is unfair on the community, but we need the community to help by coming forward with any information."

Anyone with information about the vandalism should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
