VAQ-137 CO Relieved Due to Loss of Confidence

Capt. Patrick Hourigan, Commander, Carrier Air Wing 1, relieved the commanding officer of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 137, Cmdr. Matthew McCormick, due to loss of confidence in his ability to command.

McCormick served as the commanding officer of VAQ-137 since September 2021. Cmdr. Scott Maynes, the executive officer of VAQ-137, is currently serving as the acting commanding officer until a permanent replacement is identified.

McCormick has been temporarily reassigned to Electronic Attack Wing Pacific (VAQWINGPAC) at Naval Station Whidbey Island.

The squadron is deployed as part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group.

There is no impact to the squadron's mission or schedule due to this relief.
