Local business Here and There Makers in Boronia, have created a stunning crocheted Christmas tree with the support of knitting volunteers and Council's business grant.
New life and interest has been brought to Boronia Mall with this exciting community arts project. The 16 foot Christmas tree is decorated with over 500 colourful granny squares, and topped off with a golden star.
This crocheted creation is the brainchild of Michelle Gates, owner of Here and There Makers.
"We wanted to give the opportunity to members in the community, to come together for something bigger than themselves, that is fun and joyful after an especially tough year," says Michelle.
A total of 35 knitting volunteers have busily crocheted granny squares for 6 weeks, to decorate the Christmas tree. Many of the knitting volunteers are from the charity organisation Days for Girls Ferntree Gully Chapter.

Here and There Makers was awarded a Placemaking and Liveable Communities grant to the value of $4,662.22. This grant help funded the tree and yarn required for the arts project.
