The Morrison Government has ensured its record funding and essential reforms to the education system will flow to all students in every school across Australia from 2019.
The Victorian Government was the last state to sign the National School Reform Agreement and has agreed to extend negotiations on longer-term arrangements through an interim bilateral agreement.
Minister for Education Dan Tehan said every state and territory across Australia has now signed the five-year agreement, which sets out a shared commitment to implement national school reforms to improve student outcomes and support teachers.
"Victoria is the last state to sign up to the National School Reform Agreement, but securing their commitment puts the interests of students first," Mr Tehan said.
"This will give funding certainty to every Victorian school and will give parents peace of mind that their children will benefit from these important national reforms.
"This agreement confirms that school reform must focus on driving individual student achievement and equipping teachers with the right tools and support.
"Our Government is delivering real, needs-based funding, which means a record investment in state schools, Catholic schools and Independent schools.
"The Morrison Government will now work with our Victorian counterparts to ensure our record funding will have the greatest improvement on student results."
The Australian Government has committed a record $80 billion in funding to all Victorian schools from 2018 to 2029, paid for by our plan for a stronger economy.
The interim bilateral agreement extends negotiations on longer-term arrangements to the end of January 2019 and will enable the Morrison Government’s record funding to start to flow to every school in Victoria.
