Victoria University Sport virtual training - keeping you happy & healthy

The online fitness industry has boomed since the COVID-19 outbreak began. Victoria University (VU) Sport quickly adapted to a virtual world as lockdowns hit and continues to offer online programs and onsite, face-to-face programs outside of lockdown.

Virtual training at Victoria University is a combination of programs to suit participants of all ages, shapes and sizes in a welcoming, inclusive and supportive space. The programs offer fun and challenging exercise sessions run by VU Sport staff who create a unique environment for the VU community and general public to enjoy - you don't need to be a gym member, student or staff of VU to be involved.

All online programs change day-to-day, so there is no chance of getting bored. You'll be part of an awesome group, striving towards improved mental wellbeing, physical health, social connection and active living. VU Sport keeps the VU community inspired while they are living, working, and keeping active all in their own home.

There are currently 21 online exercise sessions across three categories for only $6 per week per household. There is no joining fee, and you can cancel at any time. There are also two free kids' sessions per week.

VU Virtual Team Training (VTT)

VTT is a live, online and interactive group training session. You'll work at your own pace, making it perfect for beginners through to the advanced, with different progressions available for each exercise. The VU Sport team want to keep people fit and healthy in this unusual time, and offer a more personal group experience where you get the benefits of personal training, with the engagement of a group.

The sessions have one personal trainer directing the exercise and another engaging with the group. Together they give pointers and variations on exercises and also give you a sense of connection through interaction and feedback. Each session is run using everyday household objects and ends with the open mic group chat so you can chat with other participants.

The 14 sessions per week run for 45 minutes, and happen at 7am and 12pm each weekday, plus 5.15pm, Monday to Thursday.

Group Exercise Online

We are currently offering two of your classic group exercises classes online - yoga and Zumba - to keep you active no matter where you are. These are live-streamed during lockdown so you can participate in real time at home, or are face-to-face at the Footscray Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre when restrictions are eased.

Virtual Master Movers

These five classes are newly available online and designed to help with balance and keep people active. The classes are appropriate for those who have cardiac concerns, diabetes, or who haven't done exercise in a while and need to start back gently, with low-impact or chair-assisted exercises. Sessions are streamed live and require minimal equipment that you can find at home.
