Victorian business confidence down again

Liberal Party Victoria

Data released today by NAB has confirmed that business confidence has continued to deteriorate under Daniel Andrews and Labor.

The NAB Monthly Business Survey for December 2020 showed that Victoria had the largest fall in business confidence of any Australian state, down 15 points.

Falling business confidence means fewer businesses expanding and less new jobs being created for Victorians.

This news comes in the same week as CommSec reported that Victoria's retail sector was the worst-performing in Australia, and Victoria had the smallest wages growth.

These latest figures demonstrate the uphill battle the Victorian economy faces, as workers and small business continue to pay the price of Daniel Andrews mishandled COVID-19 response and the consequences of the botched hotel quarantine program which led to the state's second wave.

As stated by Shadow Treasurer, Louise Staley:

"More confirmation this week from NAB that business has little confidence in the Andrews Labor Government and its ability to get Victoria back to work."

"Both NAB and CommSec this week have confirmed the Victorian economy is struggling, and this means fewer jobs for Victorians who badly need them.

"Yet despite this, the Andrews Labor Government has no plan to create jobs in the private sector.

"Victorians need to know how their government plans to get the economy going again. The Liberal Nationals havea plan to get Victorians back to work and back in business."
