The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomes Premier Ben Carroll's new ministry.
We congratulate Colin Brooks as Treasurer and Minister for Industrial Relations and look forward to working alongside him and the entire Victorian Cabinet to reinvigorate Victoria's potential.
Victoria's business community is ready and willing to engage in meaningful discussion to help shape policies that reignite our competitiveness and productivity, boost our participation in global markets and secure our future economic growth.
The time to act is now - Victoria is at risk of losing jobs and investment while productivity and confidence decline. Changing course requires honest acknowledgement of where we are, deliberate reform, and a genuine partnership between business and government.
To be attributed to Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive Sally Curtain:
"While ministers may change, business' priorities remain the same: building an economy where businesses can grow and Victorians can thrive. This reshuffle provides an opportunity to reset, refocus and tackle the challenges confronting Victorian businesses to improve Victoria's prosperity.
"Now is the time to get on with the business of working with Victoria's private sector to grow our economy. A crucial first step for the Premier and his team is to deliver a sensible approach to the government's working from home legislation, which business has made clear is unworkable."
"Businesses are ready to lead the investment and grow their workforce, but we need government to provide the right environment. We welcome Premier Carroll's new ministry team and urge new ministers to work with the business community to turn our state around."
