Victoria will fine-tune its preparations for the 2025/26 Dean Jones Cup with three 50-over warm-up matches against New South Wales at Cricket Central this week.
The fixtures, beginning at 9:30am each day, will provide the Victorian squad with valuable match practice before the state's opening Dean Jones Cup clash against Queensland at Allan Border Field on September 17. The warm-up games will not be streamed.
Several of Victoria's Australian A representatives will take part in the matches as they prepare for their upcoming tour of India. The players are set to feature in two four-day matches against India from September 16, and the Cricket Central hit-outs will give them important time in the middle before departing.
The Victorian squad features a mix of established talent and emerging players, led by captain Will Sutherland. Experienced campaigners Sam Harper, Todd Murphy and Mitch Perry will line up alongside exciting prospects including Harry Dixon, Jai Lemire and Campbell Kellaway.
The 16-player squad is rounded out by Liam Blackford, Blake Macdonald, Tom Rogers, Callum Stow, Sam Elliott, Fergus O'Neill, Cam McClure, Austin Anlezark and Xavier Crone.
Victoria will be without Oliver Peake, who is resting due to workload ahead of his own upcoming trip to India. Meanwhile, Matt Short will join the squad for the second and third warm-up matches before departing for Australia's T20 series against New Zealand.
Experienced quick Scott Boland will also link up with the group to ramp up his preparations for the summer ahead.
Victoria's coaching and support staff for the pre-season series includes Head Coach Chris Rogers, Assistant Coach Ben Rohrer and Bowling Coach Rob Cassell.
Victoria will face New South Wales in three 50-over matches at Cricket Central before travelling to Brisbane to open its Dean Jones Cup campaign against Queensland on September 17.
