Victorian police officer charged following investigation into alleged sexual assault in Moama

A Victorian police officer will face court after he was charged in relation to an alleged sexual assault, NSW Police say.

In 2015, an investigation was launched by Victoria Police’s Taskforce Salus after a 47-year-old woman reported she had been sexually assaulted by an off-duty serving member.

It is alleged that the assault took place in Moama, New South Wales, in April 2008.

The matter was referred to the New South Wales Police Force for investigation in March 2016, and following ongoing inquiries, a 40-year-old man was charged with two counts of sexual intercourse without consent on Tuesday (2 May 2016).

He was issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice and will face Deniliquin Local Court on Tuesday 5 July 2016.
