A Brighton woman's New Year's Eve celebration plans took a lavish turn to an upgraded dinner after she discovered her $2.3 million win in Saturday Lotto Megadraw 4429.
“I’m shocked. I’m totally confused. I’m amazed!” the woman said crying when a lotto official confirmed her windfall in an unexpected phone call on New Year's Eve.
“I had a win from an earlier draw and so I just used that to get this ticket"
Her modest plans for a casual New Year's Eve with burgers and takeout swiftly changed to a fancy dinner out, in light of her newfound wealth.
“We were just going to have burgers and takeout tonight for New Year’s Eve, but now we’ll head out and have a nice dinner.
The winner also shared her thoughtful approach towards the fortune:
“It’s just amazing! This will help out with a few bills – pay off the home loan.
“The rest I want to sit on. I’ll enjoy looking at it in my bank account.
“I’ll treat the kids and then I’ll go from there.”
Her winning 12-game QuickPick ticket was purchased online at the official lotto website.
