Too many Victorians continue to suffer because of the Allan Labor Government's failure to deliver basic health services.
The latest Victorian Agency for Health Information data reveals:
- 58,627 Victorians are waiting for vital surgery and are languishing in pain.
- The average overdue wait time for category 2 patients is 196 days. The recommended wait time is 90 days.
- The average overdue wait time for category is 342 days. The recommended wait time is 12 months.
- The wait time to see a dentist has increased this last quarter.
- Ambulance response times remain well below target.
- At Box Hill Hospital only 47 per cent of patients are being transferred to the Emergency Department within the recommended time frame, and it's only getting worse.
- Specialist appointment wait times have increased.
- In 2022 Labor promised $1.5 billion dollars to deliver 240,000 surgeries a year. They failed to meet this number and revised it downwards.
Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier said: "These figures are nothing to boast about. It demonstrates there are still far too many Victorians waiting for the health care they need.
"Three years ago, Labor promised to deliver 240,000 surgeries a year. They failed to meet their own target, so instead of fixing the problem, they simply changed the number.
"Labor can't manage money, can't manage health, and it's Victorians who are paying the price."
