Do people need to go in to a Centrelink service centre?

Transcript: People don't need to come into our office to lodge an application for JobSeeker payment. What we've done is we've created a new functionality which means that all you have to do is log into your myGov account. Click on the "Intent to claim" button and that will start the process.

How is Services Australia coping with the demand?

Transcript: Dealing with this unprecedented demand is our absolute number one priority. We are mobilising staff internally. We are recruiting additional staff. We are training staff as a matter of urgency so that we can deploy as many staff to addressing this as possible. But in addition to that, what the government has done is streamlined many of the processes that we would normally have to go through. Waiting periods have been waived, the requirement for a Separation Certificate has been removed, and some of the mutual obligation requirements has also been lifted.
