Logan's volunteering heroes will be recognised in person and online this year as part of a specially adapted City of Logan Volunteers Awards program.

The breakfast event, held annually to thank the city's volunteers, will be on Saturday, September 26.

Award nominees will attend, along with another guest of their choosing. The event will have a COVID Safe plan in place.

Others in the volunteering community are encouraged to livestream the event via Logan City Council Youtube channel.

Logan City Council Mayor Darren Power said it was a privilege to acknowledge the city's dedicated volunteers with the special event.

"Volunteers in the City of Logan help hold our community together," Councillor Power said.

"This year, more than ever before, our volunteers have stepped up, reached out and supported our communities through challenging times.

"They have fed the hungry, provided for the needy and perhaps, most importantly, have reached out in friendship to the vulnerable.

"While it is a shame we cannot welcome each and every one of our volunteers at this time, their contributions are no less valued.

"I am looking forward to seeing our city's heroes both at the breakfast and online and expressing my sincere thanks to them personally."

Awards will be presented to the City of Logan's most outstanding volunteers and volunteer organisations.

City Lifestyle Chairperson Councillor Laurie Koranski said the calibre of nominations was testament to the hard work of the city's volunteering champions.

"It is a hard task, every year, to determine those volunteers who are most deserving of recognition because there are just so many people who go above and beyond for our community every day," Councillor Koranski said.

"I thank all those volunteers nominated for this year's awards. It is our pleasure and our joy to learn about the hard work put in by these incredible people."

The City of Logan Volunteers Awards will commence at 7.30am, with the presentation of the winners starting from approximately 8.40am.

The livestream will begin at same time on youtube.com/user/logancitycouncil
