Visiting artists helping to foster international connections

Two Korean artists are exhibiting their work in Hobart at the Entrepot Gallery as part of a new Tasmanian and Korean international arts collaboration.

The Arts Tasmania Jeju International Residency is a reciprocal program which supports exchanges between Tasmanian artists, and artists from Jeju Island, South Korea in partnership with the Jeju Foundation for Arts and Culture.

Eun Suk Jeon, a painter, is currently completing her residency in Hobart and working in a studio at the University of Tasmania’s School of Creative Arts.

Jungkeun Park, a photographer, recently completed his residency in Tasmania and has returned home.

This exhibition provides the artists with an opportunity to act as cultural ambassadors, building a greater awareness and understanding between our two islands.

As part of the reciprocal exchange program, two esteemed Tasmanian artists have recently travelled to the Jeju Foundation for Arts and Culture.

Their time has been spent connecting with the arts and cultural sector of Jeju, strengthening their artistic practices through exposure to new experiences.

The residency program is jointly funded by the Tasmanian Government and Australian Government through the Australia-Korea Foundation (AKF) of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The AKF supports activities that promote mutual understanding and stronger people-to-people relations between Australia and the Republic of Korea.
