Vivid shines light on Sydney businesses

Businesses in the CBD are being encouraged to prepare for a bustling period when Sydney is transformed into a luminous and radiant city during the Vivid Festival later this month, says the Sydney Business Chamber.

"Vivid provides locals and visitors alike an opportunity to experience Sydney after dark.

"Attendees will be exploring the city streets during 24 May to 15 June to witness the world's largest festival of light, music and ideas," said Chris Lamont, Director of Policy, Advocacy and Influence of the NSW Business Chamber.

"Business will benefit from the influx of people in the city, with visitors stopping by restaurants, cafes, bars and retail stores to experience what the city has to offer, boosting Sydney's night-time economy.

"The festival also ensures strong bookings for Sydney's hotels and motels during this period," Mr Lamont said.

"Its popularity is increasing year after year. The festival in 2018 attracted 2.25 million people, injecting more than $172 million into the state's economy.

"Attracting both domestic and international visitors, Vivid adds to the city's appeal as a diverse and enticing place to travel.

"This is one of Sydney's major events designed to showcase the iconic buildings of the city, as well as its historical, creative and trading side and businesses need to prepare now to ensure they leverage the potential of what is a world class festival," Mr Lamont said.
