Tasmanians are being invited to help shape the future of the State's small business sector, with consultation underway on the draft Tasmanian Small Business Strategy 2036.
Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said the draft Strategy will provide a clear direction for how the Government will work with businesses and industry over the next decade to create the conditions that help small businesses succeed.
"Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is backing our small businesses, so they have the confidence to grow, invest and create jobs," Minister Barnett said.
"Our State's 42,000 small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the heart of our communities, particularly in rural and regional communities.
"But we know that new technologies, shifting customer expectations, workforce challenges and international and national economic challenges are creating both opportunities and uncertainty."
The Strategy sets out a modern and practical framework that supports businesses at every stage of their journey.
"We know the best ideas come from the people running businesses every day. That's why we want to hear directly from them," Minister Barnett said.
"We want to understand what's working well, the challenges you're facing, and where the Government can make the biggest difference.
"Whether you're a farmer, tradie, retailer, tourism operator, manufacturer or start-up, your experience matters.
"By working together, we can build a Strategy that reflects the needs of businesses across Tasmania and helps create more opportunities for them to succeed."
