Volunteers thanked during National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of volunteers across Australia.

Volunteers predominantly contribute to the education and community service sectors, with a key motivator being the wish to give back to their community.

Horsham Rural City Council works with a dedicated group of volunteers, who are currently on a break to protect their health during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Volunteers for Council make a large contribution with Meals on Wheels, the Horsham Town Hall and the Visitor Information Centre.

This week, the volunteers for Meals on Wheels were personally thanked with hand written cards, provided by the Centre for Participation.

While the volunteer team are staying at home, the Meals on Wheels staff have taken over meal delivery with help from the Supported Playgroup Team.

Council is looking forward to welcoming all its volunteers back as soon as it is safe to do so.

The theme for National Volunteer Week 2020 is Changing Communities. Changing Lives.
