Volvo Trucks has strengthened its partnership with the Australian Trucking Association (ATA), joining the body as an associate member.
The ATA represents the 50,000 businesses and 200,000 people in the Australian trucking industry.
"Volvo has a long history in transport and has always been a strong supporter of the trucking industry," ATA Chair Geoff Crouch said today.
"Volvo has been a Foundation Sponsor of the ATA since 1991 and I am proud to extend our relationship and welcome them as an associate member," he said.
As an ATA associate member, Volvo Trucks can participate in the development of ATA policy, internal committees such as the Industry Technical Council, and the ATA General Council.
"With a passion for improving road safety, Volvo has been a great supporter of industry initiatives like the Volvo ATA Safety Truck - a campaign that will educate young drivers and vulnerable road users about how to share the road safely with trucks," Mr Crouch said.
Volvo is also a sponsor of the ATA's National Trucking Industry Awards, recognising businesses and individuals who go above and beyond to improve their workplace and the trucking industry.
"We believe strengthening our relationship with the ATA will only serve to benefit everybody involved in the industry," said Volvo Trucks Australia Vice President of Sales, Tony O'Connell.
"The ATA has provided a fantastic platform for Volvo Trucks to promote our safety messages. Safety is in our DNA. Extending our partnership by joining the body as an associate member allows us to emphasise the importance of safety in our industry."
Volvo Trucks has been a proud part of Australia's road transport industry since 1967 and has grown to become one of the largest heavy-duty truck suppliers in Australia.
The first Volvo truck was built in 1928. Today, they are the world's third largest producer of heavy trucks, creating reliable transport solutions for clients all over the world.
