Wage offer to go to vote

Cairns Regional Council staff will have the opportunity to vote on a wage offer next month, with an agreement reached between Council management and relevant unions.

Following discussions last month, unions have agreed to allow all employees to vote on a two-year Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA), which will expire in mid-2021.

The current offer is:

  • 1 July 2018 2.5% (2% already paid) plus a $2500 lump sum payment in recognition of the six-year lapse since the expiry of the previous EBA.
  • 1 July 2019 2% or CPI whichever is the greatest
  • 1 July 2020 2% or CPI whichever is the greatest
  • All other conditions remain unchanged from the current agreement

The draft agreement will be finalised and made available to employees ahead of the vote which is likely to be mid-May.
