Walkley Foundation Opens Entries for Our Watch Award

Our Watch

Journalists who have done good work in reporting on domestic violence in the last year are strongly encouraged to apply for this prestigious award in the Walkley Foundation's Mid-Year Celebration of Journalism.

The category is sponsored by Our Watch, Australia's leading violence against women prevention organisation, in recognition of the important role of good journalism in raising awareness of the crisis and the underlying causes.

Previous winners include Jess Hill, author of 'See What You Made Me Do', Julia Baird, Hayley Gleeson and team for their work on domestic violence and religion, Nina Funnell, founder of the #LetHerSpeak campaign and Samantha Maiden for her reports on Brittany Higgins rape allegations..

The Our Watch Award recognises the work of an individual, team or news organisation in highlighting the drivers of gendered violence and the way these intersect with other forms of discrimination and abuse faced by women and children.

Stories published between 27 April 2023 and 15 April 2024 are eligible.
