A man will appear in court today after being charged with four outstanding warrants, following an arrest near Tamworth yesterday.
About 12.15pm yesterday (Thursday 9 July 2020), officers from Oxley Police District were called to Werris Creek Railway Station after reports of an assault.
Police arrived and spoke with a 24-year-old man, and checks revealed he was wanted on outstanding warrants.
When police attempted to arrest the man, it will be alleged he freed himself from the grip of an officer and fled the scene on foot. Following a short foot pursuit, he was arrested in the carpark of a nearby business.
The man was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with assault officer in execution of duty, escape police custody and four warrants for property offences
He was refused bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court today (Friday 10 July 2020).
