A man who was wanted on outstanding warrants has been charged following a foot pursuit in Sydney yesterday.
About 3.15pm (Monday 11 January 2021), officers from Sydney City Police Area Command's Proactive Crime Team were patrolling near Broadway and Chippendale Way, Ultimo, when they saw a man run across a six-lane road of live traffic.
When police attempted to stop and speak with the man, he allegedly ran from police. Following a foot pursuit, he was arrested on Irving Street. Subsequent checks revealed the man was wanted on outstanding warrants.
When police searched him, they allegedly located mail that was addressed to multiple nearby businesses.
The 29-year-old man was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with cross when pedestrian lights not green, resist officer in execution of duty and larceny.
He was also charged with a revocation of parole warrant and an arrest warrant for various property, robbery, fraud, and assault related offences.
The Bass Hill man was refused bail to appear before Central Local Court today (Tuesday 12 January 2021).
