Stage two of the Lions Park upgrade along the Warrandyte River Reserve is set to benefit from a $300,000 grant as part of the Victorian State Government's Local Parks Program.
Manningham Mayor Cr Andrew Conlon said Manningham was successful in securing the maximum value of the grant per project from the Government's $10 million program, and works are anticipated to begin early next year.
At the end of 2020, Manningham consulted with the community on the concept plan for a new playspace as part of the park's upgrades.
"Thank you to everyone who provided feedback. We've reviewed these and have adjusted the final plan," Cr Conlon said.
"The successful grant application will enable us to make the necessary amendments and carry out the works, improving the amenity of the park."
The new upgrades will expand the existing playspace and aims to further connect the community with the natural habitat of Warrandyte.
The playspace is inspired by the animal crossing structure completed in stage one, and gives children the impression of moving among the trees like native animals. It will feature play opportunities for children of all ages and abilities.
Stage two works are anticipated to be completed in mid-2022.
