Waste 2 Art 2019

Back again for its sixth brilliant year of recycled art, Hawkesbury City Council's popular 'Waste 2 Art' Competition for primary schools is now open. Artworks will be exhibited at Hawkesbury Central Library during Local Government Week from Monday, 29 July to Sunday, 4 August 2019.

Waste2ArtWaste 2 Art focuses on 'reuse, reduce, recycle', which are the 3Rs of the waste hierarchy, to specifically show how students can give waste a new purpose by transforming it into a creative artwork. Through Waste 2 Art, Council hopes to encourage students to reduce, reuse and recycle waste.

Students are invited to create a unique and individual artwork that is different to their classmates' artworks. The artwork may be either 2D or 3D and must follow the competition guidelines in terms of size: 3D Artwork must be within 20cm³ or 2D artwork must be no larger than 20cm x 20 cm.

Entries must be made entirely of used/recycled materials. Winners will be announced at the official opening night at Hawkesbury Central Library, 300 George Street, Windsor on Monday, 29 July at 6pm.

All entrants will receive a certificate to recognise their efforts in creating their artwork and for their participation. Students will be judged as per Stages 1, 2 and 3 (i.e. Stage 1 = Years K to 2, Stage 2 = Years 3 to 4, or Stage 3 = Years 5 to 6) and four prizes will be awarded per Stage:

  • 1st prize – $200 gift voucher for art supplies
