Waste to Energy projects

- Statement from the City of Ballarat

Over the past five years, Council officers have encouraged and, in fact, enthusiastically welcomed all Waste to Energy companies to come forward and discuss potential projects.

With regard to the Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) Heads of Agreement, Council has undertaken appropriate process to date and has been robust in managing the probity surrounding this development opportunity for our city.

At no time has Council refused to meet with companies. Concord Blue presented to Councillors and Council officers on multiple occasions.

Council has resolved to hold off any action until after the State Government presents its Circular Economy Policy and Action Plan, expected in late 2019.

Once there is a state policy, Council will consider the options available to advance Waste to Energy in the city.
