Waste vouchers extended to end of year

Mitchell Shire Council has made the decision to extend the 2020/21 Resource Recovery Centre waste vouchers until the end of the year.

In order to make things as easy as possible for the community once centres are able to open up fully, Council is giving its residents until 31 December 2021 to use their vouchers for the waste that they've been holding on to, as it wasn't considered essential to drop-off to our centres during lockdown.

While Mitchell remains in lockdown at this stage, our centres are only open for essential waste drop-off. This includes visits from people:

  • without a kerbside collection
  • who need to dispose of what we call 'putrescible' waste. This is waste like rotting food or garden waste which creates an odour as it breaks down
  • who are getting their properties ready for fire season
